Man’s ‘inner voice’ asks him to seek Bharat Ratna, officials dismiss his claim

A 39-year-old resident of Gorakhpur, India, wrote a letter to the local administration claiming that he deserved to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour. The administration took his claim seriously and examined it thoroughly before declaring him 'ineligible'. The man, Vinod Kumar Gaur, who works as a mechanic and drives an e-rickshaw, believes he is an all-rounder and received guidance from a higher power to seek the award. Despite the rejection, he remains hopeful that he will eventually receive the honour.
