Arrest dowry accused only if satisfied about necessity after probe: Uttarakhand HC

The Uttarakhand high court directed police and subordinate courts to "refrain from arresting individuals accused under IPC section 498A (dowry harassment) until a thorough probe has been done and cops are satisfied about necessity of the action". The court said, "With the aim of ensuring that police do not arrest the accused unnecessarily and magistrates do not authorise casual detention, all courts are hereby informed of these directions."
