Two retreating Ladakh glaciers alarm scientists

Durung-Drung and Pensilungpa, two glaciers in Ladakh, have retreated by 7.8sq km and 1.5sq km respectively from 1971 to 2019. Alarmed scientists hold climate change and several other factors responsible for the melting of glaciers that feed Zanskar river through two tributaries. Scientists are also surprised that despite being at an aerial distance of just 1km, the glaciers are retreating at different paces.
