Tamil Nadu: Tasmac outlet by highway is one for the road to death

In 2021, during the election season, the liquor ban promises resurfaced in Tamil Nadu, with Dravidian majors DMK and AIADMK pitching for prohibition in a phased manner. But given that the Rs 36,000 crore annual revenue brought in by Tasmac, the state’s liquor monopoly, is key for the government, liquor sales have flourished with more outlets being opened.
