Uttarakhand: Elusive snow leopard spotted 7,000 ft below habitat, second year in row

The snow leopard is an elusive animal, partial to broken terrain and rugged cliffs high up in the mountains — above the tree line at 18,000 feet. But last year in April, it was seen as low as 10,000 feet in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. And this year, it has been spotted, for the first time, in the Valley of Flowers at an altitude of 11,400 feet in the Garhwal Himalayas.
