Don't understand why the concept of escrow wasn't looked into as well as source code and design inspections so as to ensure there wasn't anything untoward about the equipment. Suitable isolation of the equipment could also have been looked at as well so that remote access and tinkering was not possible. Given the recent 'back doors' found in some Chinese network products the concern is not unfounded, but maybe an overreaction.
