Caltrain's financial future now appears grim and the agency may have to temporarily sideline its service after a proposed tax hike for the November ballot got derailed on Tuesday. Caltrain sought the go-ahead for a ballot measure that would have generated $100 million per year from a one-eighth of a penny sales tax in Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties, but the effort fell flat when the San Francisco Board of Supervisors did not introduce it for a vote at their meeting yesterday.…
