Late in the Boer War General Kitchener took the view that to fight the guerilla warfare perfected by the Boers, the British forces needed to form a guerilla outfit of their own – and the “Bushveldt Carbineers” were born. Many Australians joined and roamed the remote areas with great success. Alas, so far out in the badlands there was little accountability, it wasn’t long before things started to turn bad. The English-born Breaker Morant, was right in the middle of it.
