During the pandemic..

Teachers..

Are finding it harder..

To keep up with virtual participation among students... .

As news 10's jordan kudisch explains... an i-s-u professor says the struggle is real.

The pandemic has wrecked havoc on many of our lives..

And for students..

It's making it harder to stay active in online classes.

But they're not the only ones struggling with the new way of learning.

Teachers... are faced with lack of attendance..

Blank screens..

And muted mics.

And statistics show-- learning loss in the state of indiana is reaching a new high.

And for maylannda johnson at i-s-u..

She's trying to do what she can..

Behind the screen.

But she says for teachers..

It's tough..

And she just wants students to stay engaged..

And motivated.

"just focus on this one class, just focus on this one project, then i get back that project done that's an accomplishment and we're all engaged in those then we can have a better connection and better discussions and if we're distracted then we can't have that same discussion.

" johnson says she's hopeful her students will be more engaged after thanksgiving break.

For now, reporting live in the newsroom, jordan kudisch, news 10.
