Strong winds and heavy rain as Typhoon Noul slams into central Vietnam

Typhoon Noul slammed into central Vietnam on Friday (September 18).

Footage shows the strong wind and rain from the storm blowing trees and lashing roads in the city of Hue in Thua Thien Hue on Friday.

The storm reached Vietnam's central coast today after strengthening as it crossed over the South China Sea.

It is expected to move west into Laos and northern Thailand, where severe rain and flooding have been predicted over the weekend.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting is Vietnam warned of winds of up to 160 kilometres per hour.
