Argentina becomes one of the top 10 most COVID-19 affected nations

After 164 days of lockdown, Argentina surpasses Chile to enter one of the top 10 most-affected COVID-19 nations worldwide after officials confirmed 10,504 new infections on Tuesday.

The new figures mean that the country has now recorded more of 428,000 cases since the first diagnosis on Argentine soil on March 3.

The Health Ministry also confirmed the deaths of 259 individuals, lifting Argentina’s death toll to 8,919 With more than 428,000 cases, Argentina has now surpassed Chile to rank 10th among nations with the highest number of infections.

Top of the list is the United States, with more than six million cases, followed by Brazil and India, which are nearing four million.

Unlike some other nations that also appear on the list of most affected nations, however, Argentina’s caseload is generally on the rise.

One good piece of news that is the country only ranks 17th in terms of fatalities, with Argentina’s death rate considerably lower than its peers in the top 10.
