Pittsburgh Is Participating in Jack Dorsey's 'Guaranteed Income' Program Mayor Bill Peduto confirmed the city's participation.

Eligible residents in Pittsburgh and 15 other cities will receive $500 a month in "guaranteed income" funded by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

Mayor Peduto wants to award the payments to those who are currently struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also wants to give the money to different demographics so that a study can be done to analyze how well the system works.

Dorsey tweeted about the program earlier this month.

In 2018, the mayors of Atlanta, Seattle and Los Angeles formed the network Mayors for a Guaranteed Income.

They will also be participating in Dorsey's program.
