Covid patient allegedly molested in isolation ward in Noida, case registered

A Covid-19 positive woman was allegedly molested by a doctor, who was also admitted as a patient in the isolation ward, at a hospital in Noida, according to Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police (ADSP) Ranvijay Singh.

"A woman was admitted to an isolation ward at a private hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

In the same ward, a doctor, who does not practise at the same institution, was also a patient in the isolation ward.

The woman has alleged that she was molested by the doctor," Singh told ANI.

"We have registered an FIR and will take necessary action in the matter.

Both the accused and the victim were patients at the facility," he added.

Police have said that they will also see if there was any lapse on the part of the hospital management.

Recently, a 14-year-old girl admitted to a 10,000-bed Covid Care Centre in south Delhi's Chhatarpur - the largest in the country - was allegedly raped inside the facility by a 19-year-old man who was also housed there.

The man and his friend, who stood guard and allegedly recorded the crime at the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre, were arrested in the first such known case in the national capital, officials said.

Both of them were coronavirus disease patients.
