If Americans cut down on visits to non-essential businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak it could help control the spread.

According to a new study published by JAMA Network Open, transmission of the disease could be reduced by 45%.

UPI reports that decreasing non-essential activities by 75% would cut transmission by 60%.

Researchers say that even these major lifestyle changes may not be enough to completely contain the outbreak.

According to experts, masks need to be combined with significant physical distancing.

Experts also recommend limiting gathering sizes and avoiding crowded locations, for communities to control the virus.
