The new rules came during a press conference today.

Well.

Of course we have team coverage this evening, but we begin with kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy who is live in eugene to break down governor brown's new efforts at slowing down the spread of covid-19.

Kennedy?

Chynna, the rules are getting even*tighter.

Today, brown said in a press conference that she's*sounding the alarm, because covid-19 is spreading rapidly across oregon.

And here's what you need to know, so you dont catch a fine or violate the rules.

Starting wednesday, you are required to wear a mask outdoors when you can't maintain six feet of social distancing.

Like at the farmers market or waiting outside stores in long lines.

And indoor gatherings of more than ten are now banned..this includes parties and other get together's.

But --- here's an important note --- bars.... restaurants and churches are not covered in this order.

They can stay open.

"we have done so much.

We have come so far.

We have sacrificed so deeply.

We cannot let this virus get the best of us."

She says*more cases were reported last week than the entire month of may.

Half of all cases are from people*under the ages of 40.

One third of all cases are from individuals under the age of 30.

And those in their 20s and 30s are*most likely to get covid-19.

Health officials say that it's essential to remember the three "w's"... wear a face covering.

Watch your distance.

And wash your hands.

Coming up in the five o clock hour, hear from a u-of-o student about how she feels about the rules becoming tighter...especially during her senior year.
