Old parking meters that have been out of commission since 20-18 will soon be serving a new role fundraising in fort wayne.the meters with a mission initiative is a partnership between the city of fort wayne and greater fort wayne inc.city clerk lana keesling says the city began to look for a way to repurpose old parking meters that are now outdated.with many local nonprofits having fundraising efforts halted because of the pandemic..keesling identified donating the meters to local businesses as a way to give back.

Keesling says she expects to assign all 30 meters to local businesses by the end of today and for the initiative to run through the end of the year.
