FBI Investigates Case Of Biracial Woman Who Says Four White Men Set Her On Fire

An 18-year-old biracial woman was set on fire in Madison, Wisconsin, on Wednesday morning.

CNN reports Madison police and the FBI have launched a hate crime investigation of the incident.

The assault took place when the woman was driving.

When she stopped at a red light, police say she heard someone yell a racial epithet.'

She was identified as Althea Bernstein, a college student and a volunteer EMT.

Bernstein said she saw four white men.

One sprayed liquid on her face and neck.

He then threw a flaming lighter at her, causing the liquid to ignite.

Bernstein then patted out the flames, and eventually drove home.

She later received treatment for burns to her face and neck.
