Californians were excited to return to LA County beaches on Wednesday, after California Governor Gavin Newsom relaxed restrictions and allowed them to reopen for the first time since late March.
"I was a little disappointed," said Amanda Baxter, a local in Manhattan Beach.
She added "Honestly I don't see that many people wearing masks on the beach and I know that's a requirement to be out here so I was hoping to see more people following the rules but I'm also just glad that people are out here just enjoying so hopefully they'll put on the masks here soon." People were happy to mostly abide by Newsom's rules, if it meant relaxing by the beach.
There is increasing pushback in the US against state restrictions intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
