Famous Bobblehead

Phil Sklar joins us to talk about one of the most popular bobbleheads right now and where the proceeds go.

We're go c1 >> 100 million mask challenge.

Have you heard of it?

It raised over $100,000 in the first week of april following a bobble head to honor dr. anthony fauci.

Joining us tonight to tell us more about the fundraiser is mr. phil scowler of national bobble head hall of fame and the museum.

Despite making us smile thinking about bobble heads, how is this helping?

>> at end of march we close the museum.

We normally do a lot of sports bobble heads.

We also do pop culture.

We were thinking how can we help people on the front lines?

People fighting this unprecedented battle against coronovirus through bobble heads.

We say hey there's this excitement for dr. fauci.

There's dr. fauci do nuts and socks and shirts.

We thought hey, given the highest honor which is the bobble head.

We created a rendering and now we have, this is one of prototypes within a week of putting it on sales.

We sold more dr. fauci bobble heads than any single bobble head we offerd and raised over $100,000 for the $100 million challenge.

We have mayors and others who have become prominent.

We used bobble heads to do that.

>> that's really neat.

What can you tell us about the 100 million mask challenge.

We're trying to get masks on to the front lines.

How is that money like helping nurses and doctors across the country?

What organization do you team up with?

>> the hundred million mask challenge started in the hospital in washington state which is one of the earliest for the coronovirus and there was a hospital there and doctor who started this challenge because they realized from the beginning, there weren't enough masks or protective equipment for the front line workers out there.

We heard about the story and decided to take that the cause $5 from every bobble head is going directly to them.

It started to protect the heroes where anybody can support and donate money and you can also make masks or if you have masks in storage which a lot of people did, donate them to hospitals.

There's so many hospitals and clinics around the country still very short or completely out.

100 million mask challenge is the goal to get all of the masks and protective equipment to the people on the front lines that need them to protect us.

The coronovirus is not over.

A lot of places are opening up, but there's still a lot of need.

Especially at hospitals across the country.

Rural and urban hospitals.

And protect the heroes fund and the american hospice association working to get that protective equipment right to the people that need it.

So we donated now $200,000 to the cause and hopefully more with the sale of dr. fauci and the other bobble heads we're creating.

>> i'm sure you have a cuomo bobble head.

I want to make sure people can get information how to order their own bobble head.

Where can people go to place the order and have the $5 donated to the million dollar mask?

>> store.bobblehead.com.

They are all preordered in production now.

We have andrew cuomo is one of first governors.

We have seven total governors now.

And dr. fauci, birx and some of the other people.

Hopefully puts a smile on people's faces and generates money.
