< thursday aj reed received a phone call he'll never forget.....he was informed that he's a member of the university of kentucky 2020 athletics hall of fame class..... the lefty slugger and southpaw pitcher is the most decorated baseball player in uk history....he was a two-time first-tema all-sec selection.
He was a freshman all-american.
In 2014 he was named sec player of the year and the sec male athlete of the year for all sports....the terre haute native rewrote the record books from 2012-2014, enjoying every second he played for the wildcats!
No one in lexington will ever forget reed's 2014 season........at the plate the big fella hit 23 homers and had 73 rbi....on the mound he was uk's number one pitcher, going 12-2 with a 2.09 era.... that year he became the first player in sec history to lead the conference in homers, rbi's and pitching victories in the same season.
He was named the unanimous player of the year and earned golden spikes award winner, which goes annually to the top player in college baseball.
His 2014 campaign was argueable the best single season in college baseball history!
