Starmer: Labour will "act constructively" with government

The new Labour party leader Sir Keir Starmer says he is reassured the "business of government will continue" while Prime Minister Boris Johnson is hospitalised with coronavirus at St Thomas' Hospital, London.

Mr Starmer explained he had already been in contact with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is deputising for Mr Johnson, and that the Labour party will "act in the national interest" and would "act constructively with the government" to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.

The new party leader also emphasised the importance of allowing parliament to work remotely throughout the crisis.
