The "california community college's chancellor's office" gave shasta college more than 13 thousand dollars.

It's part of a 500- thousand anonymous donation made through the chancellor's office.

The money will go towards low-income students.

The money will also help increase the "fresh success" cash grants.

Shasta college says just this past fall there were close to 300 visits to the food pantry.

I try to get as much food as possible and make it last.

When i do have the opportunity to use the food pantry, i definitely utilize it.//// we know students are having to make those calculated costs on what to spend their money on and this can give them a little bit of relief.

The college says over 200 students received "fresh success grants" last fall.

Food for the food pantry comes through donations from "salvation army" and "people of progress".
