U.S. plans to evacuate Americans from cruise ship

The coronavirus is spreading and the centers for disease control says it's not going away anytime soon.

The virus has already infected 50-thousand people worldwide.

It's to blame for at least 14-hundred deaths in china.

Now... the u-s has plans to evacuate americans who have been quarantined on a cruise ship in japan.

The u-s is preparing to evacuate americans from the diamond princess cruise ship.

As we've reported... a vincennes couple is on that ship.

In an email to americans on board... the u-s embassy in tokyo wrote that a voluntary evacuation is taking place on sunday.

The ship has been docked in yokohama, japan under quarantine for corona-virus since february 4th.

The embassy wrote that people who choose to return on the charter aircraft will still have to undergo 14-days of quarantine in the u-s.

Anyone who has tested positive for corona-virus -- or is showing symptoms -- can't leave -- and will have to continue receiving treatment in japan.

More than 2-hundred people on the ship have been diagnosed with the virus.

A vincennes couple -- jim and linda levell -- are on that cruise ship.

In a recent facebook post... linda said they are not infected but they are worried they'll be stuck on the ship even longer.

Linda posted this on facebook friday evening.

She says a japanese doctor wants to test them for the virus... and even though they've tested negative... he said they'll still need to be quarantined another 14-days.

The post goes on to say the couple wants to be tested at home.
