Nearly One-Third of US Workers Have Medical Debt, Survey Says The survey comes from Salary Finance and had over 2,700 participants.

Of the 32 percent who claim debt, over a quarter of them owe $10,000 in medical bills.

54 percent of those in debt say they have also defaulted on bills.

45 percent in the survey even say that just thinking about costs is giving them stress.

Back in 1984, they used up half of that amount.

The bureau's Consumer Price Index also reveals that medical care costs jumped 4.6 percent from 2018 to 2019.

This was the biggest yearly increase in over a decade.
