'Elitist or downtrodden': Sir Keir Starmer claims Labour ignored the middle class

Labour leadership contender Sir Keir Starmer makes a speech admitting his party has disregarded the middle-classes and makes plans to address it.

Speaking to party members at West Ham town hall, the shadow Brexit secretary said his ‘decisive’ style will help gain the trust of the public, and he will take full responsibility for anti-Semitism in the party until British Jews feel comfortable to rejoin the party.

His speech came as the Community union endorsed him for the Labour Party leadership, three days before he begins campaigning.
