U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he may declassify and release part of the video taken from the weekend raid in Syria that killed Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

We may.

The question was: 'Am I considering releasing video footage of the raid?'

And we may take certain parts of it and release it, yes." The video is believed to include aerial footage and possibly footage from cameras mounted on the soldiers who stormed Baghdadi’s compound.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley acknowledged on Monday that video of Baghdadi's final moments does exist, but would not confirm Trump's description of Baghdadi before his death.

(SOUND BITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, SAYING: "He died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way." (SOUND BITE) (English) GENERAL MARK MILLEY, SAYING: "I know the president had planned to talk down to the unit and unit members but I don't know what the source of that was.

But I assume it was talking directly to unit members." REPORTER: "You haven't talked to any unit members who have described that to you?" "I have not talked to unit members, no.

That's correct.

I've talked to the commander, cent com and others but not down to the unit members down at that level of fidelity." Earlier, at the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police on Monday, Trump continued his victory lap a day after announcing the military operation on Twitter.

(SOUND BITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, SAYING: "He was a sick and depraved man and now he’s dead.

(LAUGHTER) He’s dead.

He's dead as a doornail.” (LAUGHTER) "And he didn’t die bravely, I can tell you that.” The Washington Post reported on Sunday that Trump informed Vladimir Putin of the military operation before telling House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about it.

Trump said he didn't inform Pelosi of the raid because he “wanted to make sure this kept secret.” And White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters he wasn't aware of any plan to brief congressional leadership.

(SOUND BITE) (English) WHITE HOUSE SPOKESMAN HOGAN GIDLEY, SAYING: "It should be noted here that there is not statutory obligation for us to brief members of Congress." In a statement, Pelosi said: “The House must be briefed on this raid, which the Russians but not top congressional leadership were notified of in advance, and on the administration’s overall strategy in the region.”
