Good morning.

We are live at a the madison municipal building... which is one of many polling places.

The biggest race you'll see in this primary is for madison mayor.

Earlier in this newscast... we gave you a summary of all 6 candidates.

In this hour... we're going to break it down so you have a chance to hear from all of them.

We asked the candidates -- current mayor paul soglin ... and challengers satya rhodes- conway ... raj shukla ... mo cheeks and toriana pettaway why they believe they're the most qualified as madison's next mayor.

This is what they had to say... ((soglin)) 4;35 "if you look at all the folks that i've hired in departments and division head positions, and the way we've reinvigorated recruitment for diversity in city employment, we've made tremendous strides."

51 ((satya rhodes- conway)) 3:17 i'm running becasue everyone in madison should have the oppurtunity to thrive and i think that means we need to work on affordable housing, rapid transit, dealing with racial disparities, and being prepared for climate change :28 ((raj shukla)) 1:15 we should grow in this community, that's how we bring revenues in our community that's how we support schools and the infrastructer we need, but we have to do it in a way that is enviormentally responsible and in a way that means our moral obligations to social equity :29 (((mo cheeks))) "to address this ongoing challenge that we have as a community as a sort of tail of two cities and that's what were working on here in madison is trying to do is live up to our progressive ideals and i am ready for that job 2:20."

(((toriana pettaway))) 18:18 this is what i do, i love the law, i love politics but i also love providing resources to people and i lead teams of professionals currently :26 news 3 now asked candidates on issues like affordable housing, climate change, flooding concerns and policing.

You can find all their responses on channel 3000 dot com.
