NATS "GRETA!

GRETA!

GRETA!" The 16-year-old Swedish climate activist who inspired youth climate action around the world took her fight to the U.S. Midwest.

On Friday, Greta Thunberg drew hundreds of thousands to Iowa City to call on politicians to take action to fight climate change, offering a veiled rebuke to world leaders after her speeches at the U.N.

And before U.S. Congress.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) TEEN SWEDISH CLIMATE ACTIVIST GRETA THUNBERG SAYING: "But they didn't listen.

As we all, the UN climate action summit was a failure.

And that was unfortunately what we had expected.

To stand behind and speak the science is still too uncomfortable for them.

And that needs to change." She's a favorite to win the Nobel Peace Prize this month, though critics say her aggressive style may turn off some on the Nobel committee.

Greta has said she will travel slowly through the North American continent, then eventually through South America towards Santiago.
