Ebola Is Now a Curable Disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health announced two new treatments that can increase survival of the deadly disease.

Today’s news puts us one more step to saving more lives, Mike Ryan, WHO Director of Health Emergencies, via 'Wired'.

The new treatments saw death rates drop to 11% and 6%, compared to 24% and 33% of previous treatments.

Since last November, patients have in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been receiving the experimental treatments at four treatment centers.

The country has been experiencing a year-long outbreak of Ebola, the second-largest that has been recorded.

More than 2,800 people have been infected leading to 1,794 deaths.

After the virus crossed international borders, the WHO declared it a “public health emergency of international concern” in July
