Ams meteorologist george zabrecky gzabrecky@wtvq.com as tensions continue between the u.s. and iran..

Kentucky senator c1 3 rand paul has some advice for the president..

Our affiliate station w-h-a-s' chris williams spoke with senator paul..

He brings us more from what the senator had to say..

Kentucky :05 "come to congress and ask for permission before anything miltarily occurs :10 that answer came not long after president trump said this about the attack on a japanese oil tanker in the gulf of oman.

"well iran did do it and you know they did it becuase you saw the boat i guess one of the mines didn't explode and it's probably gotten essentially iran written all over it... " the iranian's have denied they're behind the two attacks this week and others in recent weeks... japan has yet to point a finger.

Senator paul, never accused of being a "hawk", says he's not sure iran is to blame and he wants a thorough investiation.

Kentucky "it doesn't really benefit iran to have done this.

:"03 you know, it disrupts the flow in there if we have a dramatic response to iran it makes things worse :08 you can see how there's alot of negative benefits for iran that wouldn't sort of argue for the doing this :14 there are competing influences in iran though and they say some of the hard liners don't want diplomacy with us and they could have done it to push us apart from talks :23 i don't know the ultimate answer but we ought to investigate and see... " his insistance that his own party's president come to congress for permission should surprise no-one... but he also announced this week legislation that would make other executive actions more difficult to accomplish... such as president trump's emergency order for border wall funding.

It's called the republic act, and is described as a way to "reign in presidential national emergency powers".

It basically flips the script on how a president can declare an emergency.

Kentucky " :18we can disapprove of that, then he can veto it and it would take 67 votes in teh senate to stop him.

So it's a very high burden to try and stop the president from trying to do something :00 i want to change the emergency act from a vote of disapproval, to a vote of approval... so what would happen is, the president would declare the emergency, congress would vote to approve or disapprove, but if he wants that emergency power, 51percent of us would actualyl have to vote for it and that's a much different situation than what we have now :18 #### georgetown will have a new fire chief soon as the mayor announced the have a new fire chief soon as the mayor announced the retirement of chief john ward..

Mayor tom prather said in a letter announcing chief ward's retirement..

Saying quote "in his 25 years of service with the georgetown fire department, chief ward saw the department grow from 22 employees to 58 and become one of the premier fire departments in the commonwealth... we wish him well and will miss his cool head and warm smile."

Ward became fire chief in 2014..

### l hundreds headed to elkorn creek today for a tubing spectacle that just keeps growing..

The totally tubular tubathon is going until dark at the still water campground..

The family friendly event allows for people to take lap after lap around the creek..

And enjoy the summertime weather..

The event is in it's fourth year..

And is being put on by the explore kentucky initiative, kentucky for kentucky, and kentucky waterman series..

#### the kentuckiana pride parade is now in the books- but the celebration continues this weekend.

Mike fussell takes us into the record setting crowd..

Flags are flying, the crowd is a blur of color.

"this is my organized chaos."

But look closely as the crowd passes by nats siren and you'll see the gathering of thousands is rallied behind something each person there finds vital.

"it's very near and dear to my heart.

The city needs the awareness.

What we do its just very important to me."

And this year the kentuckiana pride parade is making history.

"i think its getting better every year."

Organizers says a record 120 participants signed up and more than 4000 people will be walking by.

Nats kiss but its not just about the past for many celebrating pride.

"we're out here just to celebrate pride and all the progress that's been made in the lgbtq community and hopefully propel that to the future."

A future some say they want to make as welcoming as possible for generations to come.

"believe me there will be lots of tears because we don't do this just for the people that came before us.

That are able for us to be here today.

We do it for all these young people.

All these young people that we just want to be themselves."
