Ams meteorologist george zabrecky gzabrecky@wtvq.com as tensions continue between the u.s. and iran..

Kentucky senator rand paul has some advice for the c1 3 president..

Chris williams from our affiliate station w-h-a-s spoke with senator paul..

He brings us more from what the senator had to say..

Kentucky :05 "come to congress and ask for permission before anything miltarily occurs :10 that answer came not long after president trump said this about the attack on a japanese oil tanker in the gulf of oman.

"well iran did do it and you know they did it becuase you saw the boat i guess one of the mines didn't explode and it's probably gotten essentially iran written all over it... " the iranian's have denied they're behind the two attacks this week and others in recent weeks... japan has yet to point a finger.

Senator paul, never accused of being a "hawk", says he's not sure iran is to blame and he wants a thorough investiation.

Kentucky "it doesn't really benefit iran to have done this.

:"03 you know, it disrupts the flow in there if we have a dramatic response to iran it makes things worse :08 you can see how there's alot of negative benefits for iran that wouldn't sort of argue for the doing this :14 there are competing influences in iran though and they say some of the hard liners don't want diplomacy with us and they could have done it to push us apart from talks :23 i don't know the ultimate answer but we ought to investigate and see... " his insistance that his own party's president come to congress for permission should surprise no-one... but he also announced this week legislation that would make other executive actions more difficult to accomplish... such as president trump's emergency order for border wall funding.

It's called the republic act, and is described as a way to "reign in presidential national emergency powers".

It basically flips the script on how a president can declare an emergency.

Kentucky " :18we can disapprove of that, then he can veto it and it would take 67 votes in teh senate to stop him.

So it's a very high burden to try and stop the president from trying to do something :00 i want to change the emergency act from a vote of disapproval, to a vote of approval... so what would happen is, the president would declare the emergency, congress would vote to approve or disapprove, but if he wants that emergency power, 51percent of us would actualyl have to vote for it and that's a much different situation than what we have now :18 #### 35 people were arrested after a shoplifting investigation by lexington police..

The "shoplifting blitz" focused on retail stores in the hamburg area and the richmond road corridor..

#### state police says it found a lot of illegal drugs this week after a drug investigation in knott county..

31 year-old rachael perry and 39-year old derrick shepherd were arrested..

### georgetown will have a new fire chief soon as the mayor announced the retirement of chief john ward..

### several people disconnected from their phones - and instead connected with the people tubing down elkhorn creek.

Abc36's alexus larson takes us to the totally tubular tube-a-thon.

A tube... the water, and good company.

That's what the totally tubular tube a thon is all about.

"oh it was a great day.

We had a wonderful time."

"it was awesome.

We love floating."

The organizer, gerry james says they're encouraging over a thousand tubers to unplug for a few hours and enjoy the two mile float.

"it's just cool to see people floating, hanging out, and talking because so much of our world is digital and just to be analog for a few hours is awesome."

It's the fourth year of the tube-a-thon and it's growing every year.

People can bring their own tubes or they can purchase one.

The organizer says they had just under 200 tubes available and sold out a week before the event.

"we just want to get people out enjoying our natural resources.

To care about it, and have fun."

It was easy to see the tubers loved it - and many said they'll be back.

"the rapids were the best part."

"oh it was great.

The rapids were really a lot of fun."

"great day on the river."

### next to the violent confrontation between police and a young family.

Abc's lynda lopez reports.

For the first time we are hearing from a young family about their tense confrontation with phoenix police officers.

Sot iesha harper: "me and my daughters will never be the same anymore."

Police stop, caught on tape: sot police: "get out of the car!!"

You're watching cops in phoenix threaten iesha harper - a 24 year old pregnant woman - with her two young children by her side.

Sot iesha harper: "i can't put my hands up i have a baby in my hands, i can't i'm pregnant."

Police later stated in their report they feared she was reaching for a weapon this incident unfolding after police received a report of a stolen doll from a nearby dollar store.

Sot dravon ames: "i'm scared for little girls around the world that probably picks up a toy or something and afraid of getting shot."

The family pulls up at their baby sitters - and are approached by police - with guns drawn moments later, the driver-- 22-year old dravon ames is yanked off the ground and pushed up against the squad car - feet apart.

You can see the officer aggressively sweeping his leg - yelling.

Nats "if i tell you to do something, you do it."

"yes sir."

These videos were obtained by the families pastor and shot by witnesses that didnt want to be identified.

Sot dravon ames: "like if something bad happens you just hope someone's looking out.

I hope someone's recording."

In a police report, officers say the family acknowledged that their four year old may have taken the toy.

But police assert that the couple took other items and were combative.

However neither parent was formally charged.

Lopez close: the family has filed a formal notice of their intent to bring a 10 million dollar suit against the city.

They say the officers actions violated their civil rights.

C1 3 he continues to make his rounds working out for teams...most recently with the washington wizards.

Boyle county softball season ended on friday at the hands of c1 3 louisville male in the state quarterfinals...but there is still a silver lining for the lady rebels.

The team will return nearly their entire team from this year.

A team who have more than 30 wins and only dropped seven games all year...two to male arguably the best team in the state.

Their head coach hopes his team uses friday's loss as motivation.

Former mason county and tennesse volunteers star c1 3 chris lofton the n- b-a wasn't meant to be, but he's found quite the niche overseas.

Lofton says he just finished up his 11th season playing foreign hoops.

Most recently he was playing for a team in south korea.

He's spent time in other countries as well including spain.

While many young hoopers have the n- b-a on their mind, lofton wants to remind them playing ball overseas is also an option.
