Hot air balloons took to the skies over London on Saturday (June 9) as part of the annual Lord Mayor's Hot Air Balloon Regatta.

The balloons took off from Battersea Park at 5:15 a.m.

(0415 GMT) and went on to fly over many of the city's famous landmarks including the Houses of Parliament and Canary Wharf.

Last year's event was cancelled due to bad weather, but balloon enthusiasts were in luck this year as the weather held out and allowed the 46 balloons to take flight.

With the CEO of the Lord Mayor's Appeal on board, the display aimed at raising awareness for local charities.

The annual event has so far raised an overall sum of £250,634.
