Great White Shark spotted in ocean east of Ocean City

A shark with its own social media account took a beach trip to Ocean City over the weekend.

An online map tracking all of the shark spottings showed a recent spotting of “Brunswick,” a Great White shark with his own social media following.

The nearly 9-foot long and more than 400 shark can be observed safely from your Twitter feed @BrunswickShark.

The shark is named for the people of Brunswick, Ga., said OCEARCH, a “data-centric organization built to help scientist collect previously unattainable data in the ocean,” according to the organization’s website.

Brunswick was spotted off the coast of the Eastern Shore around 4:38 a.m.

Friday, according to OCEARCH’s website.

He was first pinged on the site Feb.

26 off the coast of Hilton Head in South Carolina.

Brunswick has since traveled nearly 1300 miles the waters off Maryland.
