Deadly Blast Rips Through Mosque in Quetta

At least two people were killed and others wounded in a blast at a Sunni mosque in Quetta, the largest city in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, on May 24, according to Pakistani media reports.

Dawn News reported that the bombing occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque in the city’s Pashtunabad neighborhood.

An imam was among those killed, reports said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the blast in a statement posted on the Prime Minister’s Office Facebook page.

Minister for States and Frontier Regions Shehryar Khan Afridi condemned the attack, tweeting: “Another nefarious act by Evil forces in Quetta.

Even in Ramadan they choose to target civilians praying in a Masjid.

It is so painful & astonishing to see that evil forces are targeting innocent civilians.

Our resilience will not be shaken by such coward acts ever.” Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
