In the spirit of saving time, busy people looking to exercise are attracted to short, high intensity workouts.

Celebrity trainer Sebastien Lagree, who has worked with Rihanna, said rushing a workout isn’t good.

Instead, Lagree wants people to slow down in their workouts and focus on”time under tension.” According to Business Insider, working out slowly increases the length of time the muscles are working.

For example, you would take 8 to 10 seconds to lift a weight and then 8 to 10 seconds to return it back.
