Nielsen heads back to work for 'next few days'

Kirstjen Nielsen on Monday thanked President Donald Trump for the "tremendous opportunity" to serve as DHS secretary, a day after he announced her resignation in a tweet.

She said in an earlier tweet she'd stay on as secretary through Wednesday, April 10th to assist with the transition.

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Kirstjen Nielsen on Monday thanked President Donald Trump for the "tremendous opportunity" to serve as DHS secretary, a day after he announced her resignation in a tweet.

She said in an earlier tweet she'd stay on as secretary through Wednesday, April 10th to assist with the transition.

Trump said Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner, would become the acting DHS secretary.
