Assault Allegations Leveled in Chicago Alderman Electoral Race

The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners said it was investigating an alleged assault on a campaign worker in the cityโ€™s 6th Ward elections on April 2.This video, posted to Facebook, shows a man approaching a man described as candidate Deborah Foster-Bonner’s son and campaign manager, Malcolm Bonner.

Bonner is recording as the man approaches.

The man appears to strike his phone, knocking it to the ground.The video alleges an assault occurred, and says the man in the video is a “field coordinator” for the ward’s incumbent, Alderman Roderick Sawyer.WTTW quoted a response from the Sawyer campaign, saying, “This overzealous supporter was immediately asked to leave.
