Trump Wants Astronauts Back on the Moon by 2024 The Trump administration announced a 5-year deadline for NASA to send astronauts back to the moon.

NASA previously announced that it was on schedule to have humans back on the moon by 2028.

Vice President Mike Pence spoke on behalf of the president at the fifth meeting of the National Space Council.

He encouraged the council to "reignite the spark of urgency" for space exploration.
