A career White House official told Congress that at least 25 individuals who have worked or are working in the Trump administration had their previously denied security clearance applications pushed through.????In a publicly released memo, the House Oversight and Reform Committee…????...revealed that it had a private interview last month with Tricia Newbold, a manager in the White House’s Personnel Security Office.????Newbold, a career official who has served presidents from both parties, told the committee that the over two dozen applications were initially denied for a variety of reasons…????...including “foreign influence, conflicts of interest and criminal conduct” to name a few.????Newbold claimed more senior officials pushed the applications through and that when she raised concerns to her superiors, it went nowhere.????While Newbold did not reveal which applications were flagged, when the story about security clearances was first reported by NBC last month…????...sources did tell the news outlet that Jared Kushner was one of the applicants Newbold raised concerns over.????Newbold who previously filed a complaint about being discriminated against at her White House security job after whistleblowing…????Told the committee of her interview “I feel right now this is my last hope to really bring the integrity back into our office.”????The chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Elijah Cummings sent another letter to the White House asking for cooperation in the investigation and threatened the use of subpoenas.
