Autopsy Reveals Guatemalan Migrant Girl Died Of Sepsis

Reuters reports a Texas medical examiner’s autopsy report released on Friday showed that the death of a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl in U.S. federal custody in December was caused by strep-induced sepsis.

Jakelin Caal and her father turned themselves in to border agents on December 6th, after reaching a stretch of U.S. border in Antelope Wells, New Mexico.

After being taken into custody, Caal became increasingly ill and was taken to a hospital in El Paso, Texas, where she died on Dec.
