Ford To Close Plants And Exit Russian Passenger-Car Market

Automotive News reports that Ford Motor Company's Russian joint venture, Ford Sollers, will close two assembly plants and an engine factory.

The decision will mark the exit of the auto manufacturer from the country's passenger-car market.

Officials say the move will allow the company to focus on light commercial vehicles and is part of an overall restructuring process that will result in Sollers assuming control of the venture, which is currently led by Ford.
