Drone Footage Shows Cyclone Devastation in Beira

The Red Cross has estimated that at least 400,000 people in Mozambique have been left homeless in the wake of Cyclone Idai, which made landfall in the city of Beira on March 14 and left it 90 percent destroyed.

Officials in Zimbabwe have said the death toll could pass 1,000.

In neighboring Zimbabwe and Malawi, some 250 deaths were reported.

Heavy rain forecast for Mozambique was expected to aggravate rescue efforts on March 20, the Red Cross said.
