Trout finalizing record $430 mln deal: reports

Talk about swinging for the fences... Just two weeks after Bryce Harper signed the most lucrative sports contract ever, comes Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout – who is reportedly finalizing a contract extension worth a staggering $430 million over 12 years - which would make his deal the largest in professional sports history.

Trout's figure would dwarf Harper’s newly minted contract with the Phillies by a whopping $100 million dollars.

Speculation about Trout’s contract extension began immediately following the signing of Harper, with many believing Trout’s talent and output was deserving of an even bigger payday than Harper's...and the Angels obviously agreed.

The two-time American League MVP and 7-time All-Star has amassed 240 home runs and a .307 batting average in his first eight seasons.

Trout was drafted 25th overall in 2009 by the Angels and quickly climbed the ranks as a rookie, making his Major League debut at just 19 years-old.

In 2012, his first full season in the league, he was named AL Rookie of the Year.

Trout, now 27 years-old, will be 39 at the end of his contract.
