Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in remarks in Washington on Monday, a day ahead of his visit with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, thanked "God" for his election, and said he was the victim of "fake news" attacks on his campaign.

Bolsonaro says 'fake news' plagued his campaign

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in remarks in Washington on Monday, a day ahead of his visit with U.S. President Trump at the White House, thanked "God" for his election, and said he was the victim of "fake news" attacks on his campaign.

Trump, who repeatedly lashes out at what he calls "fake news" media, will meet with Bolsonaro at the White House on Tuesday, where the two leaders will hold a joint news conference in the Rose Garden.

Trump has been criticized stoking tension with his rhetoric against the media.
