Is this the first sign of robots taking human jobs?

In Poland, employers struggling to fill vacancies can now hire digital workers to do the mundane tasks humans would rather avoid.

But the chief executive of one of the firms behind the Robot Employment Agency insists the robots aren't there to replace anyone.

They free employees from all the tedious and repetitive tasks, jobs that do not bring anything new to the companies." Robust economic growth coupled with large-scale emigration have led to labour shortages in many central European countries recently.

That's lead to more and more companies turning to automation to fill the gaps - and that's where the Robot Employment Agency comes in.

They offer a digital worker who automates repetitive office jobs, freeing up human workers for more creative tasks.

Their manufacturers say they can bring a number of benefits to their employers.

A digital worker will always do what it was programmed to do.

It is not affected by illnesses, weather, time, if it works at night, at dawn or in the middle of the day, it will always do its task with the same quality." Add to that the fact that digital workers aren't covered by the Polish social security system - and the savings for employers can be substantial.
