Islamic State Wife Defends Rape and Slavery of Yazidis, but Admits 'I Don't Know Much About Quran'

An Islamic State woman described as from the Philippines was recorded by a Kurdish women’s organization defending the rape and enslavement of Yazidi women by the group.Women with Kongra Star, or Star Congress, a Kurdish women’s movement, said the woman had traveled with her husband to Syria five years ago.

After his death, she married a Bosnian jihadist, who has been captured by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.In a video posted on March 9, the woman calls Yazidis “property” and “slaves”.

She says that Islam permits them “to be used” and that “it’s not rape.”When challenged to provide a support for this belief, the woman says, “I don’t know much about Quran.”Islamic State killed thousands of men, and kidnapped thousands of women and children during an assault on the region of Sinjar, in northern Iraq, in 2014.A UN report in June 2016 said that Islamic State had committed genocide against the Yazidi population.
