CNN reports an African-American woman replaced a publisher and editor who encouraged the Ku Klux Klan to "night ride again." Elecia R.

Dexter replaced Goodloe Sutton, the Alabama newspaper's current owner.

According to the paper, Dexter's family has "strong roots and a rich history in Marengo County where her dad, John Dexter Jr. was born." Sutton's controversial article read, "Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats are plotting to raise taxes in Alabama.
