(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) U.S. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SAYING: "She's very talented, very smart, very quick.

And I think she's going to be respected by all." Just two months after being named Trump's top pick for the position, Heather Nauert has withdrawn from consideration for UN ambassador.

She made the announcement through the State Department late Saturday, saying it's been 'grueling' for her family and that it was in their best interest that she withdraw.

Before her role as State Department spokeswoman, Nauert was an anchor on Fox News Channel.

She's been criticized by Democrats for her lack of diplomatic experience.

A source tells Reuters Nauert withdrew from consideration because she had a nanny who was in the U.S. legally but did not have the proper work visa.

Nauert was not immediately available for comment.

In December, Trump announced he would nominate her for U.S. ambassador to the UN, after Nikki Haley resigned at the end of 2018.

Haley, a former South Carolina governor also had little experience in world affairs before taking on the position.

Other nations on the council are represented with ambassadors with decades of foreign policy work.

Next in line for the U.S. might be Richard Grenell, America's ambassador to Germany, according to an insider.

He's previously the longest serving U.S. spokesman at the United Nations and has been a controversial figure in Germany.

In a June 2018 interview, he told Breitbart News: "I absolutely want to empower other conservatives throughout Europe."
