Trump Hints He May Still Deliver State Of The Union Despite Pelosi Suggesting Otherwise

President Trump on Sunday slammed Nancy Pelosi on Twitter.

President Trump has suggested he may go ahead with the State of the Union address despite Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's request to postpone it given the partial government shutdown.  "Nancy, I am still thinking about the State of the Union speech, there are so many options - including doing it as per your written offer (made during the Shutdown, security is no problem), and my written acceptance," Trump tweeted Sunday.

"While a contract is a contract, I'll get back to you soon!"  Earlier this month, the president had been invited by Speaker Pelosi to hold his 2019 annual address in the House Chamber on January 29, but she recently asked him to reconsider the timing of the speech, citing the shutdown.  "Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government reopens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has reopened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on Jan.

29," Pelosi wrote to Trump on January 16.   A day later, Trump announced he was denying Pelosi "a military plane for a trip to Afghanistan that was set to begin in the afternoon, a tit-for-tat retaliation that deepened the divide between the leaders and brought the government no closer to reopening," according to CNN.
