The Carthage humane society is creating a new medical area for animals with contagious diseases
Kate: the carthage humane society is creating a new medical area for animals with contagious diseases.
The 66-thousand dollar project is officially underway, and is being paid for with a grant from the steadly foundation.
Once it's complete, it will provide a place away from the main building to separate sick dogs and cats that have diseases like parvo or respiratory infections.
Shelter director deborah bell says they do have an area right now for sick animals, but it's less than ideal.
"we';ve just had to find pockets within the building that really weren't acceptable for animals to get better in.
The cat iso that we have right now, it's cold, it's in a cold part of the building, and that's not conducive to upper respiratory."
Bell expects the new wing to be complete in the next six weeks.
Tonight at 10, we'll hear about other things coming to the shelter, including an app officials hope will keep pets from ending up there.
